Witnessing is not an option according to the Bible!
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. –Mark 16:15
Notice it doesn't say invite them to church, and hope they come. It means to actually share the gospel with them. You say what is the gospel? If you are not sure, then you need to be saved. Check out our "Are you Saved (pdf)" If you have questions we would love for you to contact us.
If you do know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, then we need to be doing more than just inviting people to church. We need to preach the gospel. The gospel is getting people to realize their need of a Savior by letting people know, that they are sinners, by holding up God's law in front of them like a mirror. The mirror of God's law will convict their hearts to the point where they will know they are in need of a Savior. Then share with them the good news of the gospel. That Jesus Christ came and lived a sinless perfect life, and died on the cross for their sins. As sinners we need to repent and put our faith and trust in God to cleanse us from our sins and to save us.
So get out there and tell someone about the gospel. Our churches will never grow unless we do more than just invite them to church. We need to share the gospel.
